The online advertising industry faces big challenges, especially in the form of fake data. The internet economy is vast, and traditionally adopts a laissez-faire style marketplace to purchase advertising. Fake news is a hot buzzword lately, with governments and social media platforms struggling to stay neutral, while protecting consumers from misleading information. Opinions vary on how to tackle this issue, or whether it’s a problem at all. Some suggest that it’s up to the consumer to inform themselves before opening their wallets, while others believe in preventative measures. Regardless, it would be hard to argue that anyone should use misleading information to obtain profit or influence.

To make matters worse, the intellectual property of consumers can be used, or outright stolen by third parties. This type of behavior leaves the advertiser (the person paying for the service) leery of spending, when they have no way to confirm that their ‘engagements’ are being targeted properly, or at all.

Enter Robin8

The Robin8 Blockchain project seeks to give control of the profile back to the owner and empower the user with their own data. This is accomplished by utilizing the Robin8 Artificial Intelligence engine, which profiles and ranks users based on their reach. Social networks like Google and Facebook are notorious for monetizing people as the product, which they use to place targeted advertisements.

In the Robin8 blockchain marketplace and ecosystem, when a buyer wants access to data, they will purchase Robin8 PUT tokens to pay the data owner (consumer, influencer, content creator). Similarly, if an advertiser wants content or people to view their content, they too will purchase Robin8 tokens to pay the content creator for the content, or to pay the people to view and share their content. The same rules will apply if the consumer wants access to premium content, the consumer too will have to purchase Robin8 tokens to pay for the content creator. On the supply side of the Robin8 marketplace, the token recipient that is paid the Robin8 can redeem their Robin8 coins for cash or keep for future appreciation.

Users earn tokens by improving their trust within the ecosystem. They do this by binding their social profiles to the Robin8 Blockchain. Every action on this profile is recorded in the Blockchain, be it an article that was read, or sharing something like a video. This also can help verify the authenticity of the user. Blatant botting is combatted by the Robin8 engine, which is fine tuned to recognize automated (or fake) social media profiles.
