Community Pulse

We did our monthly Topic and Content contests with our community members. Qtum has the privilege of having a brilliant and highly active community. Here is what they came up with this month.

Topic Contest

The “Topic Contest” was exclusive to our Discord members. The idea was to provide our members with different questions and reward those who gave the best answers. Let’s go through the top five best answers of this contest.

Speaking on trading strategies

“I think there is no best or worst trading strategy. The direction of the market and its volatility are constantly changing and therefore you cannot use one trading strategy all the time. A trader should update his strategy according to the current market movement and then his profits will be guaranteed.”

#2 emir arslan#1502

Speaking on different topics for the contest:

“What would be a good crypto topic to talk about for this competition? My answer to your question

Describing their country:

“Turkey is a country that acts as a bridge between Europe and Asia and has land on both continents. There are 3 bridges connecting two continents in Istanbul. You can cross from one continent to another in about 15 minutes. The fact that he owns land in both continents shows how rich he is in terms of culture. Göbeklitepe, the oldest known living center in the world, is located within the borders of Turkey. In other words, Turkish culture has a deep-rooted structure. Ottoman, Byzantine etc. It is a country that hosted many empires such as While there is a mosque in one street, you can see a church in the street next to it. It has a culture where people from different religions, races and nationalities live together and show the whole world that it is possible to live in peace.”

#4 Ridhi sharma#7308

Describing their country:

“India is one of the most unique country.

India is popular for the languages, religions, dance and festivals.

I am gonna discuss them one by one-

Religions- Indian culture has been heavily influenced by Dharmic religions. … India is the birthplace of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, and other religions. They are collectively known as Indian religions. Indian religions are a major form of world religions along with Abrahamic ones.

Languages- Hindi is the official language of India and, used by about 40% of the population, India’s most widely spoken. English is also enshrined in the constitution for a wide range of official purposes. … Other regional languages include Kannada, Malayalam and Marathi.

Dance- The Sangeet Natak Akademi currently confers classical status on eight Indian classical dance styles: Bharatanatyam (Tamil Nadu), Kathak (North, West and Central India), Kathakali (Kerala), Kuchipudi (Andhra), Odissi (Odisha), Manipuri (Manipur), Mohiniyattam (Kerala), and Sattriya(Assam).

Festivals- There are something like 36 festivals in India most popular one is Diwali. Diwali is undoubtedly one of the most famous festivals in India. Celebrated pan India, the festival of lights has several significance for diverse cultures in the country. However, everybody comes together to light up diyas and celebrate the festival of lights in unison. Next one is Holi. Holi is a Hindu festival that celebrates spring, love, and new life. Some families hold religious ceremonies, but for many Holi is more a time for fun. It’s a colorful festival, with dancing, singing and throwing of powder paint and colored water. Holi is also known as the “festival of colors”. And there are much more festivals in India.

That is it I hope you like to know about India…

Good luck”

Speaking on PoW and PoW:

“What is my opinion about PoW and PoS?

I used to own a mining rig that had 5 graphics cards in it. It looked really nice, the rig was beautifully lit with LEDs and ran as it should. That was about the only advantage though. In the room where I had this rig the room temperature was at least 5 degrees higher than in the other rooms (in winter I didn’t have to heat the room at all). But it was definitely not an advantage, the electric clocks were spinning at tornado speed and the yield from extraction was practically zero. Not only was the weight uneconomical, but also quite annoying in summer, as it was impossible to live in this room 🙂 Eventually I sold off the mining rig.

A little later I got an RPi, with which I can mine QTUM in the form of PoS. My RPi has been running for over a year now, 24/7. It doesn’t generate that much heat, so I can have it anywhere and it doesn’t show up in my power consumption at all.

So for me, PoS definitely wins in all aspects. It saves the environment both in energy consumption and the material that is required to make the hardware.

Stake the QTUM!”

Qtum and Guarda

Did you attend Qtum’s AMA with Guarda? If not, here’s a recap.

Third-Party Qtum Mentions

“Qtum, a PoS blockchain that takes the best of both Bitcoin and Ethereum to offer faster and more secure transactions, recently announced a partnership with Binance Charity to plant 100,000 trees as it aims to become a fully carbon-neutral protocol. As a PoS blockchain, it consumes minimal electricity and by planting trees, it will offset the emissions caused by the electricity needed to run the Qtum validator nodes. Qtum estimates that 100,000 planted trees will eventually offset all of the emissions caused since its mainnet went live in late 2017, and possibly more.”

“The Qtum PoS blockchain is one of the pioneer chains to feature an environmental-friendly Dapp building platform. This Layer-1 chain leverages Bitcoin’s UTXO model.”

https://www.cryptowisser.com/the-crypto-industry-is-finally-adopting-greener-innovations-for-environmental-sustainability/

“From this initiative, Qtum aims to become completely carbon-neutral, planting trees to offset their emissions each year. As they use proof of stake, this is entirely possible, with their first 100,000 trees offsetting all of their emissions since their platform launch back in 2017. This is a wonderful example of blockchain businesses using practices that are seen in other industries and replicating them to help move towards a more sustainable business model.”

“Qtum, for its part, utilizes a UTXO model for ordering transactions that was popularized by Bitcoin. Not content with limiting itself to one VM model, Qtum too offers EVM compatibility.”

Twitter Highlights

Binance Charity (@BinanceBCF):

“Thank you @qtum for being a part of our #TreeMillions initiative! Binance Charity aims to plant 10 million trees worldwide to help mitigate the impacts of decades of deforestation and the worsening climate crisis.

🌳Donate, Plant, Protect.”

Patrick Dai (@PatrickXDai):

“Qtum have the plan to build a sidechain and target for Web3 Apps and Metaverse. No single blockchain can process all Web3 transactions. We will extend Qtum to a more scalable infrastructure to connect all sidechains and Rollups, or you can say connect layer2 and layer3 network.”
